Leadership Spotlight - Dallas McLennan

Dallas went from Rodeo clown to telecom tycoon. But what is he up to on Sunday?

Leadership Spotlight - Dallas McLennan

Dallas was a school troublemaker, college dropout who found that you can disrupt industry and be rewarded with praise.

Starting in the wireless industry pushing phones at a Costco kiosk, Dallas worked his way through every level from Cold Caller to Account Executive.

Finding following the rules something far too stressful, Dallas and two others started Simplex Mobility. A company looking to disrupt the Corporate Canadian Wireless Industry.

Over 11 years Simplex became the largest Canadian owned Telecom Expense management software company and recently was acquired by Digital Management LLC where he is now the Vice President of Sales for the Managed Services Division.

With a lovely wife and 2 girls (1 and 5) Dallas is always busy chasing something or someone.

What’s your ideal start to a Sunday?

Being an NFL fan, I love getting my garden tomatoes to make some BLT’s, pouring a giant coffee, setting my fantasy lineup, and watching football all day. But that was in the before time…before the children. Now I try and get in a strong coffee early morning on the deck before the chaos begins haha.

Your current TV/Podcast/Blog or book obsession.

Normally if its sports I'm watching it. My wife caught me betting in the middle of the night on Korean baseball during the pandemic. For a more fiction-based TV show we are currently really into Silo on Apple TV+. Dystopian future Sci-Fi makes us both happy.

What’s your morning drink of choice? Favorite local café...

Coffee, strong, black and steam your glasses hot. The happy wife happy life trip each morning is to retrieve the fancy pants coffee from Starbucks. I always get my best work done in the morning so it’s a drive through special so I can get right to work.

How do you take care of yourself during the weekend?

Self care is something we laugh about with a 1- and 5-year-old in the house. However, in the summer I love to be on the deck while I listen to the kids play in the backyard. With the ball game on with a cold adult beverage of course. Easy to unplug with those parts in place.
